Hello, I'm a 19 year old getting in shape to join the Army. I've been lurking on this site for about a year and a half but just now decided to join.
My goal is to get in great shape and get a 18x contract (not guaranteed, I know). Honestly, it took me a long time to settle on a particular one, but I know I want to be in a special operations unit. I've learned alot from this site and hope to learn more. I read alot about the military, especially SOF as it interests me much more than really anything else most people my age are into. I'll end with saying I know my goal is ambitious and I have a long way to go, but I have to start somewhere.

Welcome.

I admire your 18X goal. Personally I'd be pushing you towards a Ranger contract first, to later move into 18 series, but good luck! Train hard.

I've been thinking about that actually. I just realised being a teacher/trainer may not be for me. I get frustrated trying to explain things to people that speak the same language...I may have jumped the gun on saying 18 x-Ray. I'll just focus on getting in shape for now though.

I just recently decided on SF but before that I wanted to be a Ranger. I'll just focus on getting in shape for now though.

So you're a typical teenager, not quite sure but very confidant.

Take a Ranger contract, build yourself up over a few years then assert.

Step #1: Don't listen to Pardus.
Step #2: Refer to step #1.
Step #3: Follow your dream.
Step #4: Stick to the 25m rule.

You can be successful as an 18X. Much depends on attitude. My advice to you no matter what path you choose to walk in life is this, when you're around people you don't know who have been around for a minute or two, use your ears more than your mouth. Be a sponge. In the end you choose your own path. Choose the mission and the lifestyle that appeals to you; there's plenty of information on this website with that.

Welcome to SS. Good luck on your endeavors.

Head over to the mentor program section. Get involved. Teaching is great, and seeing the end product is ultra rewarding. While it may be frustrating to you know, as life progresses, you will gain experience and passing along those experiences will become much easier. Welcome to the forums.
