Good morning SS,
My name is Joe. I'm a combat cameraman with 1st Marine Division Combat Camera. I'm currently in Afghanistan with 1st Bn., 7th Marines. I stumbled upon SS a few days ago through a series of Google searches. I've been lurking the site since and decided it was exactly what I was looking for, so I made an account.
I plan to attend MarSOC A&S next January. I was hoping to go earlier, but I initially joined to fight in support of OEF and I wouldn't turn down a combat deployment. Im 6' 0", 205 lbs, run a 296 PFT (18:40 3-mile, 20 pull-ups, 100 crunches) and 300 CFT.
I have minimal rucking experience, but I wanted to gain a rough understanding of my abilities and ran a 3-mile w/ 50 lb. ruck in 30 minutes prior to this deployment. I was on the swim team throughout high school, completed the intermediate swim qualification, and passed the MCIWS screener, but was unable to go to the course due to the predeployment work up.
I don't currently have any timed recordings of any swims, but plan to begin a rigourous training cycle once I return to the states. I plan to follow the Military Athlete A&S training schedule.
If there is anyone on Camp Pendleton willing to be a mentor or wants a training partner for A&S, please contact me. For potential future training partners, I won't be returning to the states for a few months.
