Hello everyone, my name's Jack and I'm currently an underclassman in high school. I've always wanted to join the military, and Army Special Forces is my number one goal. I wrestle for my school at the varsity level and I am a big fitness person. My interests include weightlifting, military history, and hiking, among others.

I want to join SF for many reasons. I've always had a drive to serve in the United States military, and I love a physical and mental challenge. My grandfather, the subject of my profile picture, served as a LRRP on the first long range reconnaissance company in the United States Army. He's never pushed me to join up, but his stories from one of the world's first SOF units have definitely influenced my decision about Special Forces. My conversation with an 18A from 5th Group has also pushed me toward SF, and I'll relate that experience in a later post. Thanks everyone, and I'm glad to be apart of this forum!

Welcome.

Look at the Special Operations section and the attendant subforums... there are some eye opening revelations in there. Remember, only 1% of 1% of the population ever make it into Special Operations - brainiac studs fail to make it... It's as much about heart as it is about PT and brains.

The search function should become your new best friend, and joining one of the mentor groups should be high on your priority list after you absorb some information and get to know the site and its senior members. A little warning - once you join a mentor group, you will be expected to follow instructions and have a thick skin.

Drive on, and good luck.
