Hello everyone,

My name is Tyler and I am currently an Active Duty 3A in the USAF. I am stationed at Lackland AFB, TX and have been for the entire 4 years I've been in the military. My work experience is comprised of two years working for the 344th TRS where they teach all Career Enlisted Aviators on Aircrew Fundamentals. Currently, I am working for the 322d TRS where basic training is held. As of right now, I am training myself to cross train over to TACP and have been doing so for the past year and a half. I look forward to meeting new people here and learning more about the community as whole.

Is it easy for any AFSC to cross train to TACP?

Within the AF, as long as you fulfill your time in service requirements (36 months for 4 year, 59 for 6 year I believe) you can apply to retrain into any AFSC. Doesn't mean you'll get it though. There's ASVAB score requirements, manning, medical requirements, PAST, etc. TACP is on the shortfall manning list meaning they're taking retrain applications more so than say a random medical field because they're critically undermanned. I'm a 6 year who hits 4 years in August. Right now, if you're halfway through your contract, you can skip the time in service requirements and apply for Battlefield Airman regardless of manning in your current career field and have a shot at it provided you can pass all the steps prior to Selection.

Also, comma, welcome.

LOL - did you reply to this thread using Siri? Last week I sent my boss a VM that he played back for me. It said, "Hey Mike comma just calling you back period. Did you receive the spreadsheet I sent you question mark?
