I live in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. I currently work for my family's wrecker business as a driver. Currently in the process of enlisting with the Army with an 18X contract. I was a midshipman with Auburn University's NROTC from 2012 to 2013. I was not on scholarship so I was paying for school myself. I didn't have the money to continue school so I had to drop the program to save money to return. I decided instead to enlist in the Navy with a SpecWar contract. The first time I attempted enlisting, I was denied due to having a dismissed felony charge as a juvenile and the moral waiver wasn't approved. However, after contacting every member of the recruiting chain of command, I was told to wait until the following year to try enlisting again. I waited and trained. I tried again the following year. I was told the same thing. The Navy put my application on hold. I was told by the regional recruiting commander that the Navy didn't have the budget to allow someone with a 'blip' on their record to enlist. He said to try again when the budget opened up. Fast forward another two years. Being that the military's budget was recently increased, I contacted the recruiting commander. He said he'd be happy to have my application pushed forward. Unfortunately, legal at MEPS decided to deny my moral waiver without explanation. I grew very tired of the Navy's games so I decided to talk to the Army. The Army was more than happy to assist me. I took the ASVAB, completed the medical screening at MEPS, and interviewed with the company commander for the legal waiver. Everything has been approved and I should be signing my contract next week. I'm very familiarized with the Navy's chain of command, processes, procedures, SOF community, et cetera, but because I'm not at all versed on the Army, I have been doing a lot research on the Army's chain of command, procedures, SOF community's, et cetera. I'm very glad to have found a community in this forum that looks like a wealth of information.

I look forward with all my heart to be a humble member of the Army's special operations community.

Welcome aboard! Best of success to you on your future goals and objectives.
