Israel and Iran

“The guerrilla must move amongst the people as a fish swims in the sea.” Generally I guess that Maos’ tactic is redundant or at least compromised.

Israel is draining their ocean.

I've studied and admired the Israeli military and intelligence branches for decades...but this offensive against Hezbollah, starting with the pager compromise, has been operationally brilliant at a number of levels. Incredible penetration of the enemy camp.

It’s certainly is extraordinary. There’s reports that Hamas is ready to negotiate a cease fire, though the terms aren’t something that IMO Israel would agree with, as per usual. It begs the question, who on the Hams side is there to negotiate?
Good time for them to do this...."Hey, we wanted to negotiate peace, but Nasrallah wouldn't let us...now that he is gone, lets do this"

The strike apparently was limited. No nuke facilities hit—which was probably prudent of the IDF in spite of the temptation.

I still think there’s a bullseye in the form of the Star of David over anything in Iran with a nuke signature. And I suspect there were some who wanted to pull that chain.

Which is probably the implied message. "We can can bomb whatever we want, whenever we want, and you can do nothing about that. Play nice or get wrekt."

The question is how many passes does Iran receive before their entire country looks like a post apocalyptic video game?

Probably starts some anti-government riots.

One report I read claims Israel destroyed all the radars of Irans S-400 and S-300 systems. Based on videos I saw, it may be true -- air defense certainly wasn't an Iranian strength. Between failures in Ukraine and Iran, Russian mil contracts have to be taking a beating.

I was reading Reddit posts that claimed to be Iranian citizens. They were saying E Tehran had some loud explosions around mil facilities, lots of Fire/EMS headed there, W Tehran, same thing but less hooplah. They also claimed large explosions, no AA response or alarms beforehand....caught completely off guard.

If I were Israel, I would hit all of Iran's nuclear weapons facilities (all the ones they say they don't have) and say "we deliberately avoided targeting nuclear facilities." Then, what are the Iranians going to do, claim that "the Zionist entity" targeted a bunch of facilities they claimed they didn't have?

This is Israel's best change in a generation to set the conditions for future peace, not only for their own country but for the region. And, spoiler, it won't come through UNRWA.

How long sir? Ballpark figure is 10 years though the way it’s going it may be longer.

The Israel/Palestine conflict will go on as long as Western and Arab powers allow it to. If they would stop funding both sides of the conflict and let a winner emerge, the wars would cease and two different peoples could move on.

There are too many incentives for the Palestinians to continue fighting, and none for them to meaningfully pursue a lasting peace. UNRWA is a case in point. No one wants the gravy train to cease, so they keep telling the Palestinians "river to the sea" and throwing money at them, which often goes to practices that are counter to our long term interests.
