Israel and Iran

Seriously though, I remember posting here that Trump tried provoking a war back in Nov./Dec. 2020 and y'all kind of laughed at me, but whatever.

Anyway, when I left in 2021 the theater C2 node I worked in didn't have the ability to speak with any coaltion partner outside of the Emiratis and that was if they even picked up the phone. We rarely did CDAG (I forget if it was Common or Coalition Defense of the Arabian Gulf) training with the Emiratis and I never saw other nations take part. Al Dhafra had an entire cell run by an O-6 for the purpose of coordinating air defense with the Emiratis and the UAE still barely exercised with us. CDAG was almost exclusively a US problem.

This was 5 years ago and I'd like to think a lot has changed. That facility is now at Shaw (great move btw) so anything could happen by now.

Also, after our Patriots smoked some coalition/ US aircraft in Iraq we started embedding Patriot guys in AF C2 nodes; I can't speak to AWACS and JSTARS are gone. AF and Army integration for air defense was super, super tight and exercised regularly. While I was there we were able to push radar feeds and Link 16 data* to the Pat sites and the Patriot guys sat next to the AF mission commander.

All of this is to say I'm not surprised the Kuwaitis shot down that Eagles but if the Army ever does that will surprise me. Our integration with Army ADA was phenomenal. They just need to stop deploying Lieutenants and yes I am serious.

* - That's all open source and integrating radar is surprisingly easy once you find a networking guy who can properly configure a router.

The only thing that can take down a US F-15 is a US ADA system. Something poetic in all that.

The video from Kuwait is pretty funny. Apparently the Kuwaitis though one of the pilots, a dude, was enemy and was about to beat the ever-living shit out of him. Another video of the female pilot shows friendly Kuwaitis profusely thanking her and helping her.

To think our and Israel's intel is so good we know when, where, and with whom a meeting is planned and can launch a coordinated surgical strike within a day or two of getting that intel. They're going to have start using carrier pigeons or smoke signals soon.
Heard a report the Israelis hacked traffic camera system in Tehran. We've been using this to work with the Israelis to map detailed movements of all the Iranian officials. Impressive, if true.

I'd probably be upset by this if it wasn't for the Embassy, Marine Barracks, William Buckley, a slew of hostages, a slew of hijackings, the tanker war, Hamas, Hezbollah, Yemen, EFPs in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. There are so many reasons I've forgotten about some and never heard of others.

Are these strikes the right thing to do? Are they an abuse of power? Attempt to take the Epstein files out of the news? A betting line for Vegas?

I don't care. They are about 40-ish years overdue. The people mewling and screeching either don't know about the above or they don't care, but it really comes down to Orange Man Bad. No more, no less. See also my cereal theory.

I want to know why the Kuwaitis don't read IFF. That's pretty basic, I care about that. Not about Iran.

This. 100%.

I'd probably be upset if we just kept the status quo and lobbed a few tomahawks in their direction in the interest of more virtue signaling. We're not doing that though. We're doing what the U.S. military is supposed to do; take decisive, overwhelming action. "If you're gonna light the match, burn the fucker down".

I don’t see this as being a very protracted campaign. This appears well-planned and targeted. So long as we wrap up relatively quickly and don't get sucked into the nation building trap, I'm not gonna lose any sleep over Iran getting their shit pushed in. We get rid of the largest Russian proxy and the largest source of Islamic terror. The world will be a better place.
