I remember them finding a B29 in Greenland some years ago and a bunch of dudes unfroze it and planned to fix it up and fly it out of there (ala The Flight of the Phoenix) but they ended up starting an electrical fire and burned the goddam thing up.

That broke my damn heart. There is a rather lengthy documentary on YouTube about this, all that time....all that labor....they got it started and ready to fly...and it was something like leaving a toolbox in the wrong place that kicked off the fire. Really tough to watch.
The Kee Bird...that was heartbreaking. There are only two airworthy B-29s.
Collectors are still pulling German fighters out of Norway and the odd Soviet bird turns up now and again. The frozen wastes up north are keeping some of the a/c in decent condition given their age and circumstances.
