So i did a little searching and not much on the topic besides random anecdotes over the years.

MODS, sorry if this thread seems redundant, if so please remove.

Reading the novel Heat 2 and recent news stories gave me the idea to start a major crimes and unsolved thread. I know the military minds and street cops here will have some interesting insight on the topic.

Me first: Ok, which one of you recently lost their long term contracting gig/ career? Theres been a few of these recently.

In one of L.A.'s largest cash heists, burglars steal as much as $30 million in elaborate operation

Oh Canada...

Six arrested, one in Pennsylvania in what police are calling the largest gold heist in Canadian history.

$20m gold heist at Toronto Airport one year ago. Inside job by guys working with Air Canada right after a shipment of pure gold comes in from Switzerland. Guy with fake papers pulls up in cargo truck, gets loaded up with around 800 lbs of gold bars and drives off. One of the suspects is caught with 65 guns in his car, also running a firearms trafficking ring. 3 suspects still on the loose.

Of the $20m, only about $90k worth of gold is recovered. Guys were smelting it down, selling it etc. I'll be following this one to see how it pans out. These guys must've been living it up, have money stashed.

I am definitely not a bot . I actually spent four years doing qualitative research and felt there was a missing component in my work and that the insight of high skilled and highly concentrated military force could provide new perspective. Besides that I love marigolds and drink dried lime tea at 2 am contemplating this world. A civilian in military space

A real whodunit, except it looks like some DNA was left..."NBC News reported Thursday that prosecutors found traces of DNA samples in a helmet and gloves found at the scene. But it was unclear if the DNA belonged to the suspects." When was the last time you've seen some gloves and a helmet laying around in a museum?

$100 million in precious jewelry. I'm also interested in the market for these stolen gems that every LE agency is going to be on the lookout for. Are they headed to Dubai? Moscow? London? Pretty ballsy.

People will buy stolen art because... reasons. You pay for something you can never sell and that you hoard for essentially eternity makes no sense to me, but whatever.

Some of those jewels will be broken up and sold and the rest sold into the hands of private "collectors."

Another perfect crime where a small oversight such as the DNA could break the case. How many of those are in the US alone where a hair fiber, pet hair, overlooked blood drops, tire tracks, etc. send a murderer to jail?

Want to get the discussion going on NGOs and paid protester groups because we all know some of these lead (past tense) to violence.

People on this board have been talking about it since the pandemic, or even before. Pallets of bricks at protest sites, investigative journalists attacked for uncovering root funding and protest cell leaders.

With all the rot in the gov from the last decade of craziness, I hope we the people get some movement on this in the court system.

Savannah Guthrie Kidnapping

Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of NBC Morning Show anchor Savannah Guthrie, was kidnapped early morning February 1st at her home in Catalina Foothills, Arizona. She was reported missing around noon that day after spending the previous night with her family. A search of the property indicated foul play.

Two ranson demands have been received so far, with a 3rd imposter note being sent and a person charged for that. One note was confirmed by loca LE, another emailed to Tuscon news station KOLD. The kidnappers are demanding $6m in BTC by Monday Feb 9th at 5pm. The Guthrie Family made an emotional appeal to release their mother and pay the ransom. Police so far have searched one vehicle in connection to the case, and the residence twice. The FBI announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the kidnappers.

Pretty sick shit going after an innocent woman like that. Hope they catch these MF'ers soon and put them in the can forever.

This is an interesting connection, given recent events.

Savannah Guthrie conducted an exclusive interview with Virginia Giuffre and other victims, which brought attention to their experiences. In the NBC News Dateline special, Guthrie sat down with multiple Epstein victims, allowing them to describe the exploitation they endured.

In September 2019, two months after Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in his prison cell, Guthrie conducted a series of exclusive interviews that focused on women who were sexually abused and trafficked by Epstein and his network.

I was going to speculate. Hope we don't find out its family or scam to get her rich daughter to come off her scratch to another family member behind it. Fargo style.
