Hey everybody. My name is Brandon and I am a current undergraduate student in Texas planning to commission as a USMC officer through OCS after my graduation this spring. Long story building up to this recent decision that I've made, but I can't tell yall how excited I am to do this. I know it will be a long path, but I aim to someday become a CSO within MARSOC.

With no military experience, I know that I obviously am a step below (knowledge-wise) nearly everyone on this site. I plan to use ShadowSpear purely to gain training tips, military career path info etc. that will be able to help me in the long run. That is all for now. Thanks in advance.

Thanks to you all. Hope to one day call you my brothers/sisters in arms. I would appreciate any and all personal questions or other info relevant to my ambitions in the form of a PM. See yall on the field one day.

You will ask and take those questions in public here. You aren't special and you haven't earned anything that would grant you anything more than other members of this site deserve. Right?!

Try to pry info in private at your peril, capiche?

Only requesting personal questions in regards to my intro to be personal. Of course I understand my place in respect of others on this website; I will behave and provide my utmost respect to SS members accordingly. Thank you, pardus.

You are definitely not an English or communications major... the quoted post makes absolutely no sense at all. Could you try again in something that resembles normal construction, with some concentration on readability?

Ironically I am an English minor, but after a long Saturday night I am surprised that grammar was my only mistake on that last post...

Edited: Only requesting that personal questions regarding my intro remain personal. Of course I understand my place with respect to other SS users and I will behave accordingly. Thank you, pardus (and x SF med). Better?

Foolish mortal. Heed well intended advice and stop explaining what you understand. Because you obviously do not.

And.........who is only requesting that personal in your intro be kept personal? The NSA, God, or the voices in your head? Subjective clarity in your initial posts will save a lot of verbal abuse. You admitted to studying your native language as a minor, therefore, you can and will be held to proper constructions and usage in serious posts. Maybe I should do something evil, like ask you to make one post entirely in the English Passive Subjunctive II voice; it is a bit of an archaic case, but a nice exercise in complex constructions.

Clear, concise and correct... yet tailored for you audience... that's the key - go for a more formal construction when in doubt, it's better (and easier to overcome) to be seen as a stick in the mud than as someone who does not care about language, especially as an officer.
