Hello all,
I am a 17 year old Junior in High School currently looking into fulfilling my wish of enlisting into the United States Marine Corps next year. My desired MOS is 03XX but I am shooting for 0311 so I can move up into Scout Sniper eventually, I understand I may be getting ahead of myself but I want to be as prepared as possible. I am currently taking Pre-Calculus Pre-AP and Physics AP, I understand these will help me later on if somehow everything goes to plan; I have also been taking ASVAB Practice Tests in order to be able to get the required GT and AR scores. I have not talked to a recruiter yet, they have told me I need to wait till I am a Senior. In my free time I run anywhere from 5-8 miles wearing a 25 lbs. weight vest to help with conditioning and do other exercises as well. Would practicing marksmanship help at all? I have read on the forums that marksmanship is the last thing I need to worry about but I am raised in a household in which we do not own any firearms so I feel I would be at a disadvantage. I have researched distance calculation using a mil-dot scope, but I feel that it is insufficient as mil-dot is not used by the Marine Corps as far as I know. Is there anything else I could be doing now to assist me later on if everything goes well?Thank you for your time,
