Need info on SGM Walter Shumate

I'm trying to write an article on Sergeant Major Walter Shumate for the Air Commando Journal and am looking for some information that isn't normally found in basic web searches. I've sent an email to his son and hope to get a response, but would appreciate any help you guys could provide also. His influence spanned many units and he helped foster improvements in several of the modern schools many of us attended. If you can remember any references in books you've read, can think of any stories you heard at dive or jump schools, or happen to have any pics or articles on him, I'd greatly appreciate it.

thx for some of the replies.... Please, I'm not looking for anything that isn't available to the public. Just stories of a personal interaction,
a reference to him from a training school, or a picture.
