I have been trying to reach a member of 20th Group or 19th group for a while now with a few questions. Despite picking up flyers and using google like a fool, I haven't been able to have a few specific questions answered. No questions about SFAS just yet, but mainly a few questions about training, time away from home, and current locations of SF companies within the CONUS and the role NGSF plays within the Big Army. I know there is a company is NC where I live, but I haven't been able reach it. Any tips, ideas, or critisims would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm with 19th Group and also on PS.Com. Ask away
Excellent! Well I guess my first question would be about time spent. I have heard, from asking a few operators at the gym I go to (SOFwods), that Being an operator on the active duty side is only slightly different from being an operator on the NG side. Is this true? And if so, what are the major differences?

and to add on to my previous question, when is the best time to re-class into 11b? I have been asking my RNCO for papers allowing me to re-class for sometime now. But, from what she has told me, the ability to send me to infantry school is all based on open slots and state money, BUT, I'm hearing about soldiers getting re-classed ALL THE TIME! Even during a "shortage of slots." Now, I will never speak ill of My RNCO, but it seems im getting jipped. Is there a proper time, or procedure that needs to be followed? Thanks.

We don't use the term operator, that term is used for certain guys in a certain SMU. Being on AD is a lot different than on the NG side. I can only speak for my unit and things differ from unit to unit, state to state, and from Group to Group on the NG Side. As a NG soldier you can spend as much time away and very little time away all depending on what type of team you're on and how free you are with your civilian life (job & family). There's a difference in going to schools and doing short or long term trips.

The best time to reclass is probably between 1st and 3rd quarter due to state funds being used up. However, if you're in a 11 B unit and not MOS Q, that should be one of your state's priorities which is getting non MOSQ people qualified. Now if you're already MOSQ and have a current para/line number, it will be very difficult to go to a MOS producing school just to get a secondary MOS.

If you really want to re-class, then my advice would be to join an 11B unit so you'll have to go to get MOSQ.
