When are these normally presented to the family? I've been going through all of the Army regs, but haven't found that yet, and the viewing is tonight. I got put in charge of this Monday evening.

Have they been approved? I’ve seen it done a few different ways. I arranged to present them myself (with my platoon sergeant) for one of my Marines after I got home from deployment. I asked the local reserve unit to show up in formation and they did.

I’m prettt sure the CACO had already presented them though.

Yes, the awards and posthumous promotion have been approved, and I have orders, certificates, and medal/ribbons in hand. We have no such thing as a CACO/CAO (although I'm hoping to get that changed). It just didn't seem to me to be appropriate to present them formally during the funeral or burial service, although the BN CO read the citations as part of her military bio during the funeral service.

We have a combined BN drill in December, when the BN CO will be presenting a number of other awards (mostly from our deployment for Hurricane Harvey). She was on BN staff, so I'm thinking that would be the best time to do it.
