Quick Intro: I am currently enlisted as an PFC with an option 40 (11x) and I ship on 22Sept of this year.

I have a vast amount of friends/family, videos, etc that have helped me prepare mentally and physically and mentally for basic and all my initial trainings. With that said, I'm not worried about those, but I do not have any Rangers I can talk to about RASP and ways for me to prepare for it. I've read every guide, training program and watched just about every video about it. I've been training and working out daily for the past 3 years (I was training for quite a while with the intentions of going to BUD/S) so I am as physically prepared as I can be in my eyes for my trainings, including RASP. However, I'm not stupid, I know that no matter how much I train, it's all, especially RASP, gonna be hell.

I've done training to prepare myself for endurance, such as long runs with weights, rock climbing, trail running, endurance runs, white water rafting, etc etc.

My reason for posting in here is to ask for help to more prepare myself mentally for RASP itself. Does anyone have any tips to prepare mentally for the suck? As in things I can do aside from reading something. (Not to say words don't help, I'm just the type of person to go out and do stuff instead of reading something and thinking about it)

Thanks for your time!

Thanks for your time!

I really encourage reading about the men who came before you. Men who did anything and everything to complete the mission, usually under much worse conditions then you will have in a selection process. While it's not direct advice like "do X to pass X event", personally I found it hard to seriously considering quitting anything after reading. Tons of books out there, just open one.

Little update:
I finished Infantry OSUT with a
340 APFT score
38/40 Rifle Qual (Expert).

I am currently in my 2nd week of Airborne.
I should start RASP in late February!

Just looking at all the options.
I'm going to get through RASP and once I get to a batt, assess where I wanna go from there
Your counting you chickens before they are hatched.
Get through RASP and be a good Ranger, then look at SF.
You may enjoy being a Ranger and decide to stay, or leave the Army at the end of your enlistment.
Planning your career days after finishing AIT is a waste of your time.

Also, I have been thinking about trying to drop an SF packet. Have been talking to the post SF liaison

You got your contract to become a Ranger, fulfill that contract - it's the ethical and moral way to go. Once you've finished your initial enlistment, if you feel that Ranger Regiment is not where you want to be, or if you think you want to expand your horizons, look at other units. Always take the obligations you accept seriously, learn and grow as a Ranger, be a man about your promises.

The best advice you'll get is in the two posts ^^^^^^^^^^^^^above.

Please provide an update on your progress in RASP, as my son is considering an 11X-Opt. 40 enlistment. Thank you and Godspeed.
