Gentlemen, apologies if I am beating a dead horse, as the search function did not yield anything that I have found.

My question is based on rucking. I've heard on other forums, as well as from my buddy in 2/75, that going further than 6 miles and training with a ruck more than 55 pounds or so can cause more harm than good when it comes to over training and risk of injury. Not disputing this advice, I know rucking is awful for you. Basically my question is, if you train no further than 6 miles, how do you know you'll make the grade in the last 6, or is that just a risk you have to be willing to take? I have a little over 4 weeks until I ship to Ft. Benning on an 18x contract. Looking for advice from those of you that have been there and done that and have passed any sort of SOF selection.

Thank you.

We have several threads regarding training methods and distances. Go to the main forum page, type rucking in the search bar, then wade through the results. I found 3 or 4 in the first few pages of results in less than 10 minutes.

I will tell you this, I never rucked with something under 60 lbs....

45 lbs plus 1 gallon water = 53 lbs....the scales at Camp Mackall are silly....:-"
