I'm currently in CSB under the SOCS pipeline at stone bay, I'm set to deploy early next year upon completion. Though I'd love to get the experience and the perspective, I'm worried that my SOCS status once obtained will disqualify me from being allowed to attend A&S due to commitment obligations. I'd be fine with this if I wasn't certain that I'll be a SNCO by the end of my SOCS obligations and with the new guideline disqualifying SNCOs from screening I feel that I'm either shit out of luck or need to attend A&S prior to my secondary MOS assignment. This, if even possible - ends my deployment and would undesirably fuck over someone else as we are short-handed. If I can't go after the deployment and have to do it now then atleast I know in advance otherwise I'm thinking the only option is to get over it and try to cross over into the Army and attend SF selection.

Note: I did attempt to contact a recruiter, stone bay loves it's Fridays and my prior-Force MSgt wasn't certain on the new requirements. MarSOC website lists nothing concerning SOCS to CSO requirements/possibilities

update:

My chief instructor called up the screeners office, YES - SOCS can attend ASPOC/A&S but they are no longer accepting packages from Sergeants who were promoted before July 1st, 2012.

Yep... I'm SOL in that department.

All right throw me a clue here, what is SOCS?

My top is a force bubba with about 14 years+ of teams experience and genuinely loves his marines. As odd as it may sound, when he says it can't be done, I not only believe him but I trust that there simply was no other way based on his level of attention to detail and dedication. He suggested SEAL or CAG as options to persue so I'll probably sit down with him today and talk to him about that.
