Turns Out the Army

His appointment makes sense for a few reasons:

- This is a situation with a lot of visibility. A 2-star will have more clout than an O-5 or O-6 and the perception will be that this is serious enough to give it to a general instead of a colonel; that perception will matter in some circles.
- He used to oversee the training of the Iraqi security forces. Good, bad, or other, he has that on his resume so he's (in theory) already familiar with some of the players and challenges.
- DCG of Ops for 3rd Army: High on the food chain, but not so high that taking him away will hinder the rest of 3rd Army's mission.

I'm skeptical when it comes to stuff like this, but his appointment makes sense to me.

I.E. 3rd Army can go away with minimal impact to the Army.:D
