Forget mid-airs, someone explain to me how a cargo ship even gets within a mile, hell, 10 miles, of a carrier.

If they were in the Port Said area as news reports are stating, that's one end of the Suez Canal. I doubt you're getting much of a "bubble" around a carrier in those congested waters.

Anyone know who the owner of the ship was? The ship is registered out of of Panama, but the holding company looks like it's either from Turkey or a Russian shell operating out of Turkey.
