Was there with my bro "Marty" Martinez. This is him. Two Purple Hearts. He says kindly that my sense of humor helped him though his return to the bush after his second medevac. He wasn't real fired up about coming back, and nobody blamed him. His odds were lowered. So we slugged it out together another four months until I got hit.
This is the back side of the monument. The bottom image was taken from a photograph of our Corpsman, Doc Coonfield, treating a village kid during a medcap.
This is the front side
Marty--front row, sitting, mustache. Me--back row, standing against pillar, arms crossed. Old French plantation house we sometimes used as a Day Haven. This is Feb '71, about 15 klicks SW of Danang.
