Your Stories of CMOH awardees you have met.

no shit?? I'm so jealous. his book made me want to become a flight medic. I read it just before going to AIT. amazing man, great story.

I remember learning about MSG Benevidez and about Shugart and Gordon in BCT. I'd like to meet Lawrence Joel if he's still around.
By far one of the greatest men I've ever had the good fortune to meet. His book is less than 3 feet away from me as we speak (type). I only wish I'd been able to convey to him the extent of what he meant.

Alfred Rascon

I was with the 82nd Airborne, Ft. Bragg sometime during 1985-86 when we where walking one morning to the dentists facility on Ardennes about 0815 hrs and we where about to be approached by three officers in BDU's. As we got closer, and preparing to salute, I noticed a "Blue Ribbon" around the officers neck..................."What the fuck ?" it's Medal of Honor winner.

As we passed the three officers we saluted with heavy "Airborne Sirs" and where greated back with an "All the way" from the three officers. I looked at the name tape on the man with the Medal of Honor around his neck and it read "Rascon"

Don't ask me why he was wearing his MOH with BDU's because I aint about to address him as to why. I later read the story of his citation years later when he was a Specialist with the 173rd Airborne in Vietnam. I believe he was a Major as of about 2005.

Come to think of it, I don't remember if he was an officer when we passed him on Ardennes or not. But I do know the other two where and so a salute was in order. Looking back, I'm sure I was saluting the MOH and not the other two officers.

Just my quick story.
