When I was a 113 driver, I would never drop or raise the ramp until I got the all clear from the crew, and if we had dismounts I never backed up unless the TC told me to and only on his command as it was his responsibility to make sure there was no one behind before giving me that command. They were very serious about this in the platoon TACSOP.

I had a neighbor wake me up late at night once because I was a "paramedic"; really I'd just done like 2 volunteer EMT shifts.
The end result was determining her husband did coke with his friends, popped to many percs to come down, and nobody wanted to call 911 because he was in the Army. Had to convince them it was better he get in trouble instead of ODing.
I didn't know the ice cube thing at the time, so I was very confused when I first walked into the house and her husband was pantless, ass up with some chick taking ice cubes out of a glass and shoving them up his ass.
