When I was a 113 driver, I would never drop or raise the ramp until I got the all clear from the crew, and if we had dismounts I never backed up unless the TC told me to and only on his command as it was his responsibility to make sure there was no one behind before giving me that command. They were very serious about this in the platoon TACSOP.
