People want something, or someone, to blame. This will be yet another case study of the normalization of risk and I'd put money on this being a multitude of things that finally came together to form the perfect storm.

Mission creep.

I believe Reagan could close with minimal impact, but it's open because it's convenient for Congress flying home every weekend.

Maybe reduce the number of flights in/out.

Killing chopper routes through the airport will probably happen.

In the grand scheme of things, this could have been way worse.

The dense population, rows and rows of row homes, the strip mall and macys/other stores there, it could have been hundreds as a MASCAL.

That said, props to the surgeons for this kid, God is great.

Had to take a kid to CHOP/kid hospital on philly from our Township, just outside city.

On way back, this is the direct impact spot where that medical leer jet burned in.

Surprising, the dunkin donuts, rasing cane's chicken right next it was not touched and still open.

Row homes are dark directly across the street.

I'll be honest, as fucked as this was, it could have been absolutely horrific in regards to MASCAL.

I've seen videos of a dude running while ablaze and not far from this, dozens of body parts on highway.

Crazy. I grew up in this area.

EA-18G. One story says it was landing, another said it was taking off. Maybe a go around...dunno. Pilot and EWO were picked up by a fishing boat.

A few pictures of the incident. 1 source did say it was performing a go around, but that isn't corroborated by any other source. Crew went to the hospital and are in stable condition.

I've seen it done differently. We usually use the side with the wheels. Also makes it easier to taxi to the gate.

It's super windy here today with random whiteout conditions. I went for drive in the truck and a few times, I'm surprised I didn't end up inverted.
