I work with a guy who was a boom operator on KC-10's for 12-13 years. He said problems with the pylon are common than people think.

Fatigue cracks in general are not uncommon for all aircraft, pylon, nacelle, truss mounts or frame. What is uncommon is MX missing what is a known issue. I'm curious to see how this one plays out.

American Airlines has already updated their 209 Airbuses affected. Apparently, the software update is pretty quick.

Roll back to a previous version of the software. You're right, most airlines knocked this out pretty quickly and the disruption was minimal. @DA SWO probably remembers this better than I, but Airbus has had software problems before. They were enough where I was hesitant to fly on one of their airframes. Then Boeing one-upped the Airbus with its 737 Max...

I think the T-birds' Instagram account posted a video of that same a/c going through engine maintenance a day or two before the accident.

They also wouldn't happen if the pilots would set their damned altimeters correctly. Good thing the seats work well.
