Article: How To Fix Special Forces Training

All,

Well, I've had a run at it. I will leave you all to stew in your festering hatred for me. Since everyone seems dead set on focusing on what's negative, bad, false or what's perceived to be so in everything I've posted, I'll be going. I think this forum will present little more than a huge distraction for me at this point, and I will be forever known as "that guy" anyhow. Anyhow, I'm happy I made the effort to reach out and generate some interesting discussion, but since it already seems that the majority of what I'm going to get from now on is "shut your hole and know your role," "do a search," or "look at my stick," I don't see the point in sticking around, only to be a verbal punching bag to at least 50% of you. Adios todos!

Thanks. I took a look at your sticky.

BTW, both of those articles are in fact peer-reviewed. See the link below, the journal Amino Acids is subject to rigorous peer review. Also, I think you're misinterpreting the significance of the time; just because BA's effects are most relevant, it would seem, for "short burst" types of activities, doesn't mean that this effect is somehow lost in terms of relatively long-term protection from the cumulative stress that repeated bouts of such activities will cause. Finally, questions of medical testing and approval aren't germane to the issue of whether or not it works. It is classified as a dietary supplement, after all, and works by increasing levels of a buffering substrate that already exists within the body's cells, viz. carnosine.

I know everyone is already laughing at me, but who cares at this point. I don't think anyone's reasons against the beta alanine thing have stacked up to much more than "hey, let's tell the FNG he's an idiot, because he overstepped his bounds." But you or anyone else is welcome to offer me reasons as to why I'm wrong.

Here's another one. While not specifically related to PTSD, it shows compellingly, IMO, that beta alanine supplementation reduces stress-related performance deficits in a very significant way, i.e., in reducing deficits in stress-related marksmanship.

Beta-Alanine supplementation makes soldiers more deadly in combat

Also, @ Ranger Psych: I would respectfully request that you decide whether or not you've written me off, or not -- the fact that you wrote that you had done this, and proceeded to write a message directed at me subsequently, shows me that you're obviously conflicted about something. On that note, while I can frankly concede at this point that I have overstepped my bounds, for you to immediately impugn my ability to comprehend "science" is an instance of you doing just the same. As a working IP professional at a law firm where we cash checks for $250K on a routine basis, I can say with the utmost confidence that my general grasp of "science" takes a gigantic, steaming, smelly shit on yours . . . "bro."
Does the check have your name written on it?

You don't know Ranger Psych, or too many others here; I think you'd be surprised at the level of scientific knowledge the members as a whole have.

Good luck with the enlistment (I hear the Coast Guard is the way to go, avoid the Air Force, nothing but nerds and geeks)

Bit of an attention whore aren't you? Can't help but post just one more time, spew your thoughts that you obviously think are oh so important.

I'm not interested in the slightest at what you originally wrote. You fucked up by acting like a smart little bitch to members here.
STFU and go away.

Thread Closed.

Interestingly enough, the 'journal' Amino Acids is edited and marketed by the same Springer Open group that you linked to... They are a for profit organization, and linked to......................The Supplement Industry as their 'scientific' journal partner.

The second article referenced is also posted by a group allied with the supplement industry.

The articles are going to say what the industry wants people to hear about their supplements. they have a vested financial interest in getting people who believe in supplements to drop big bucks on the latest and greatest supplement - and beta-alanine products are not cheap, figure an average of $6 per "serving", serving is the direct quote from all 12 sites I visited looking at cost, and every site had a disclaimer that these were dietary supplements and their efficacy had not been tested by the FDA or any International food and Drug Agency.

Telling, don't you think?

Oh, you really should stop shitting on the senior members on this site, especially when it is in the vein of, "I'm smarter than you, and I make more money than you, and I am better than you." It reeks of an unbridled egotism and need to prove your worth. Guess what? The Senior members you are disparaging have nothing to prove to you or anybody else, they've already proven it to themselves, by earning titles like "Marine", "Recon", "MARSOC", "SARC", "Ranger", "Special Forces", "SEAL", "PJ", "TACP", "SOWT", "JTAC", Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine, Coastie... Some are much better educated and smarter than you - we have a few MENSA members in our ranks, many advanced degrees, Doctors, and just plain well read and inquisitive people. Yet you came on here and proceeded to tell us that our way was wrong and yours was better, without ever having walked our path. That, son, is unmitigated arrogance and disrespect. You do realize that you told Medical Doctors that your bio-science background held more credence than their combined nearly a century of medical practice and study?

Think on all that, and then get back to us. Either to leave the site or to maybe lurk and read a little to figure out that this is not the corporate world nor academia, this site and the membership here are something you have never experienced, and probably never will.

The OP is requesting by pm exchange with me, a deletion of his account, including posts. we have exchanged pm's exploring staying-v-leaving. My impression is that he knows he has dug himself a hole that will only get deeper the longer he stays. That said, the thread lock is the smart move. I told him that deleting what he has posted will probably not happen.

LMAO that he went the mod who happens to be a Medical Doctor with this request... now that's funny.
