Respectfully I am really not bolstering anything, simply explaining myself and nothing more. Just some found it offensive I would go for the Army for the fewer legacy systems over another branch. Allen Johnson, the college student who brought down a Predator Drone in Pakistan, published his research paper on how he did it and gave it to the pakistan military, and the single outline was broadcasting a UHF, "pinged" the predator drone, and opened communication with its computer.

If it is offensive to people to point out a serious flaw, I apologize. It was not meant to be offensive.

and.... failure to follow simple instructions to STFU for a bit may buy you a short vacation. We get it, you do a lot of reading and internet searching, and are in a college program. The people you are talking to have real world experience with military systems.

You will NOT fare well should you decide to join the military.

Strike 2.

STFU, and pay attention to what people are telling you.

I don't have the most robust IT creds, but many of you on this board are familiar with my experience. For those who aren't I've worked military comm since 93 across a bunch of platforms, IT for 20 years, B. Sci. in Computer Science, and spent a decade in Southwest Asia as a contractor for the US Navy with the USAF as our end user. Here my focus is on tactical and "stra-tactical" ground-to-air systems. Not cutting edge, but enough to facilitate killing people (or not, depending upon the need).

Mister Geek, your posts have so many inaccuracies that I won't bother to challenge each one. Your cert paths, your "knowledge" of legacy systems in use by the Navy, the 40k UHF frequencies....the list is extensive and started with your first post. I don't know why you decided to "educate" us when a simple Introduction would suffice and I won't speculate.

I will tell our membership that a number of really smart people have discussed this thread and found it to be.... inaccurate at best and "utter bullshit" at the extreme end. I'm speaking for a number of us so that those who are lurking don't assume we agree with the "information" provided; silence is tacit approval.

Mister Geek, you are welcome to stick around, but quite frankly I don't know if you're a good fit. I personally question if you possess the humility to see your mistakes or if you're one of those people who think they are always right and everyone around them to be stupid. To be very frank, several individuals have questioned if you're trolling for information, hoping we'll correct you so you can gain some knowledge about our systems in use.

I don't know why you started out the way you did. I don't know what you hoped to accomplish or if you have an agenda....again, I won't speculate. What I know for a fact is your posts are filled with inaccuracies and we've closed this thread to prevent its further degradation.
