With all the hoopla lately over the conduct of senior officers the "perks" have come to the attention of the higher highers. If you read to the end of the article you'll see a quote from Sec Gates complaining about some of the perks ADM Mullin had that he didn't.

Gates recalled serving as the civilian defense secretary and living on a military base in Washington next to retired Adm. Mike Mullen, then the chairman of the Joint Chiefs.
“I was often jealous because he had four enlisted people helping him all the time,” Gates said, adding that he would tell his wife: “Mullen’s got guys over there who are fixing meals for him, and I’m shoving something into the microwave — and I’m his boss.”

Who? Who will guard the hen house and tell these generals that they're wasting taxpayer dollars? Other general officers? Congress? The President? No one is capable of taking the moral high ground, as they're ALL guilty. :(

Dempsey’s recommendation was forwarded to President Obama several days ago, Little said. Dempsey also suggested that ethics training should begin earlier and occur more frequently throughout officers’ careers.

Honest people don't need training to do the right thing. Just like people that don't D&D dont need a class to tell them D&Ding is wrong...

The first time I heard of anyone doing it, I just looked at the people involved and their description of it and knew I didn't want any part of that crap. "Dungeon Master", a 20-sided die...that shit never made any sense to me, but to each their own.

Basturd. :ROFLMAO:

I got halfway through your post before I figured out what you were talking about. Thanks for making me laugh instead of being MORE pissed at the leadership... :D

If you are shoving something for yourself to eat in the microwave you really dont have to worry about anyone serving you polonium sushi. :-"

I remember being livid in a staff meeting when I returned from Iraq in '09. We had the hardest time getting money to justify specific purchases for force protection overseas. At the staff meeting, I saw a contract approved for a $5000 rug, designed like a football field, with the 4ID symbol on the 50 yard line for the CG's office.

It's all about priorities and a lot of people need their priorities adjusted.
