That's a pretty good read though I do wonder why this story is appearing now (or maybe it has in some forms before and I missed it).
Don't know; it was one of the mass random emails I get from the program I'm in from time to time. Maybe one of my teachers knew the author.
And I'm not aware of the USNI having a poor academic rep.

Dunno why I've never heard of this guy until now. And that book came out what, 14 years ago?
