I have to wonder if US dodged a bullet by Japan beating England with that fluke goal ? I do not follow enough to know, but I was under the impression that England was supposed to be a better team than Japan.

It definitely would have been different. I think England had a better team and they would have negated one of our biggest assets...heading the ball. England's players are comparable in size, but the Japanese were a full head shorter.
