I don't mean to throw more on but lately this has been getting to me. Marines aren't soldiers. Soldiers are Army the Navy has Sailors and the Airforce has Airmen and women.
In the bigger scheme of things - such as history for all of human civilization. But they are all soldiers - SEALs, Marines, Airmen, Rangers, Army Infantry, etc.
Just because the US has sub categories for them doesn't really mean much to me from the historical perspective.

You have a gun and youre fighting for your country = soldier.

Marines are soldiers, point blank.
