Lurked here for awhile. I'm just a regular guy that happens to know a few people. Decided to finally create an account because there were a few interesting threads that I'd considered commenting on.

To those here that have served and those that continue to serve: Thank you!

You need to do a little better than that.

Introductions are required for new members. Please take a moment to introduce yourself here before posting on the site, or you run the risk of having your account deleted. Introductions do not have to be works of art, but at the same time sub par intros will not be tolerated. If you are/were military, you may want to highlight what branch you served in, what your job was/is, and what brought you to ShadowSpear. If you're not in the military or a veteran, feel free to tell us about yourself and what brought you to our community.

We require member profiles to be filled out. The member's component and background are required. The "Component" field must list what best describes you. In the "Background" field, please tell us about yourself. You may list your military job/specialty (MOS) or units you serve(d) with. Civilian members can tell us what they do for a living.

Why does ShadowSpear require intros and completed profiles?

In short, we run a tight community and try to provide information that is factually correct. People who pass themselves off as someone they are not are not welcome here. This site is for learning, teaching, and connecting. Remember, no one is forcing you to join this site. You can still read the topics as a guest. Show the other members a little respect, and you will receive some in return.

Updated. Didn't intend to get on the boss' bad side on the first day. :)

One of my general questions, which prompted to register in the first place, has to do the the AFSOF structure on this forum. The question is probably not worthy of a new thread, so I'll hazard to ask it here. Curious as to whether why there is no sub-forum or topics for SERE? Is this intentional or simply due to lack of interest/inquiry?

^ Follow up. Once posted, do I have the option to edit my post? It comes in handy as I'm the king of fat finger and poorly structured sentences, especially late at night.

Welcome to the site.
Your thread is becoming more interesting with each post.

Welcome to the site.

I think the main reason we don't have a SERE forum is because there's simply not a lot of interest. Also, since we're a SOF forum and "SERE" is not "SOF" per se, I don't think we ever felt an urge to make it its own forum. If you do a search you might find a couple of SERE-related threads.

I'll fix your account so you can edit posts and so forth.

What is the significance of your avatar?

Didn't intend to get on the boss' bad side on the first day. :)
Pardus, the boss? :ROFLMAO: Freefalling is the boss, Pardus is just the hired help. ;-)

Thanks. I guess I was viewing it from the AF perspective that, while they may not be door kickers per se, SERE specialists are one of the components of the GAWS model and may be assigned to AFSOC to fulfill the PR mission. I understand your reasoning as well.

Thanks!

What is the significance of your avatar?
Tom was a friend. He was lost in 2008 during a HAHO training mission (he is listed in the fallen warrior forum - thank you!). His wife established a foundation, now known as the "All In All The Time Foundation" with the objective of assisting the spouses and children of the fallen with interim financial needs; a most noble cause. The avatar is from the face of the coin created in his honor. I chose it as a way to raise awareness for the foundation and keep his sacrifice and legacy alive.

No comment. ;-)

You didn't get on my bad side then. NOW you are getting close. ;-) ......

I'm holding out for the true boss to come and end the reign of Dictator Free. ;-) But I'm starting to feel this isn't going to happen, and in that case.....All hail the masterful Freefalling!

Welcome BTW.

I'll expound on Free's S.E.R.E. post.

S.E.R.E. is a close hold subject on ANY military forum and isn't discussed much for a reason, and a very good reason. I don't think I need to expand that statement, but S.E.R.E. and NDA's are honored here on shadow. "Other" NDA's in the .mil community notsomuch, S.E.R.E., is......so, ....If you don't want to be shut down early, don't ask or post about "that subject". If you want to know more about being a P.O.W., join the military or use your google-fu.

Welcome to shadow.
