I'll keep this short, much like my initial time of service...
I joined the army back in 2010 with an 18X contract. I had a pretty special platoon at basic that consisted of 29 other X-rays. Of the 29, 20 of them either already have their green beret or they're a couple of months from graduating the course. I was one of the unlucky ones that wasn't able to make it through. While at SOPC I developed a pretty serious hernia that I kept to myself for fear of being med dropped. Our SFAS class was the last one before the summer break and the cadre had mentioned that anybody that went on profile after SOPC to avoid SFAS and get a few extra months of prep in before selection would be kicked. This ended up being an empty threat because some guys got their profiles anyway and went on to get selected a few months later. I decided that the hernia wasn't debilitating enough to keep me from finishing selection but I was wrong. midway through land nav week I felt a tear in my abdominal while rucking up and fell to the ground in pain. I was med dropped from the course. They sent me on orders to a unit that would be deploying in 3 months even though I needed surgery. I ended up needing 2 surgeries over a 5 month span and my unit decided to med board me. It's been about 17 months since the last surgery and I'm desperate to get back in and have another shot. That's why I'm here.
