Hello all,
I am a former Firefighter/EMS provider on the east coast. I am currently in sales and live in the Rocky Mountain region of the USA. Dad fought in WWII - South Pacific theater. My interest in this site is to gain knowledge on gear, tactics, etc to become better prepared in the event this becomes necessary. I enjoy the outdoors - camping, hunting, fishing, etc. I look forward to learning from everyone's experience.
Cheers

Welcome to SS. I love the Rockies!

When I pcs'ed from Germany to California, it was not my first time to see the Rockies, but it is easy to forget just how high they are. We had spend a lot of time in Bavaria, and the Alps. The Alps were pretty high, I loved seeing their peaks as we drove in from the west. In my drive across the US, the Rockies first look like weather ahead. Clouds high up in the sky to the west, then it hit me, I've been watching the Rocky Mtns. come closer, It took nearly a day from first seeing them until I hit the foothill. What a beautiful place to see, and visit. I could easily settle in there, up in the Rockies.

Yes, the mountains are a pretty special place to get away from the hustle and bustle. From time to time I need my ocean fix though. I like your quote of President Reagan

Ah. South of me. I and another senior member here are near the Liberty Bell, in the same business.....

Muppet,
I tried to respond to your last post via gmail. Apparently that doesn't work. My screw up. I have been out of the biz since the mid 90's. I miss the action, well some of it. I had to pick up some hobbies that filled the need for adrenalin, which I didn't realize I needed till after a couple of years removed from the city.
