Hello,

I am an Army wife whose husband is in the process of attempting to go the SF route (he is current attending SFAS). I have searched around a bit on the internet and could never find much valid information on anything regarding SF until I discovered this site. I don't have a lot of specific questions yet as we are still early in the process but I am interested in learning more about SF and how to best support my husband in this if he makes it. My husband is a 1LT currently serving in a cavalry unit and I quit my job as a clinical social worker this spring when I had our second son to stay home with the kids for a bit.

Thank you! If anyone can direct me to more information on what an SF candidate would value most in terms of support from his wife/family or more detailed information on the language course during the q course that would be great. I guess specifically I am wondering if I would be able to sit in on any of the language classes or have enough access to the material to learn the language along with my husband? I tried searching but I am not coming up with any information on those topics. Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to SS. You might want to visit and register at the professionalsoldiers.com website also. PS.com is a website focused specifically on Special Forces. PS.com would be a great site for your husband to consider visiting and joining also. He will be able to make some contacts and gain access to knowledge and experience which will ease and aid his journey to becoming a qualified member of the Quiet Professionals Brotherhood.

Welcome, Ma'am.

I wish your husband strength, common sense, and fortitude for SFAS, luck has nothing to do with it. Should he be Selected, I will wish him more of the same. The best support you can give him is to let him fully focus on the tasks ahead of him. You'll have to take a different class in whatever language ... unless you are in the SFQC, you will not be able to sit in on the classes.

I suspected I would not be able to sit in on the course but thought I would check. I will continue my search for a program that will provide me with language training.
