I've been lurking for about a year but didn't want to make an intro until it was official.

Just enlisted 2 weeks ago as a 12Y with an option 40. I'm 29 years old, married with 3 kids. I couldn't deny the urge to serve any longer and it was now or never. Can't wait to earn my place in the brotherhood.

29 years old, married, and 3 kids. I commend you on your commitment, and I say a little prayer that you and your family know what you are getting into. This is not meant as a jab, just a hope that your established relationship can withstand the rigors of military life.

Thank you, your honesty is appreciated. This decision has been over a year in the making and one that we have not taken lightly. We have done an enormous amount of research and my wife has reached out to military wives and wives of Rangers to hear their opinions and perspective. It's helped her get a glimpse of what she'll be facing with me in the service.

I'm sure it will still be a major shock once we are actually experiencing it but we've tried to prepare ourselves as much as possible.

Welcome to SS, and active military service. Much will be asked of you. You will get back what you put in, and then some. Best of luck, and stay safe.
