I graduated BRC on April 29th. For several years before joining I was a lurker on this site slowly collecting information that could possibly help me in my career. I told myself the only way I would ever join this site was if I earned the coveted title of "verified SOF". Now that goal has been achieved. Since this community was so helpful to me with answering questions I had as a wannabe, I would like to return the favor and give advice to young motivated marines that have the same dream that I did.

Welcome.
What did you think of the BRC Graduation Speech?
The speech by Broadsword6 was pretty motivating. At first I wasn't quite sure where he was going with his story about Gunney B.but he ended up tying in his point nicely. It's pretty motivating joining the same community with guys of the same caliber as Gysgt.B. Did you happen to be there?

What battalion are you going to? Your challenge is just beginning. Never forget that everyday is a selection and every task is a test.

No, I got to read the speech before it was given.

IOC, BRC and MCD for different reasons. IOC was not as physically challenging as BRC but much harder mentally and academically. I broke my ankle week two of BRC and that made it very difficult to do any of the physical events. No I didn't recycle and yes finning was excruciating. Dive school was stressful because I went after being in the community for many years and I pressured myself to perform at a very high level even though I was over thirty and most students were in their low twenties. Also dive school will drop you if you fail any three events over the ten week course. To include the daily quizzes. Failure of any kind is not accepted. Freefall was a blast.
