Hey, I am a 24 year old Marine who has been in for 6 years and I am working toward MARSOC. I just moved out to Okinawa at the beginning of 2015 and decided I wanted to commit 110% to become a CSO. This is my dream and my family backs me the whole way. I am excited to ramp up the training and see how everything pans out

Greetings. You really should check out the SOF Mentor section that we have here. You'll find a wealth of information, as well as fellow members who are at various stages of the pipeline, not to mention the ones who have completed the training and are living the dream, so to speak.

Glad to have you aboard.

Thank you very much and I will. Ive been on this forum for about 5 months and just got around to making an account. There is so much knowledge on this forum its great,

Thanks. I am out in Okinawa.
Cool. Do you want to share some info? I was an 0261 in Oki from '00-'01 at Camp Hansen. I was with the 31st MEU. I love Oki and would go back there in a second. I was trying to get my family to move out but it was a long commitment for them.

Its just a different type of Marine Corps out here. Everyone who was here prior said they loved it, but there are so many restrictions now and there is a major issue with respect and discipline out here. The work ethic of Marines out here is totally different from that of the States. Its at your own pace and if a deadline is missed or you don't accomplish the mission it is what it is. But, I do have a wonderful family that supports me and always remind me to train, teach, and mentor. The Island is great though and the locals are so kind and the culture is very eye opening. My daughter is 3 and learning Japanese, so its very satisfying to see my family just dive in to another culture.
