I am looking to become an Airborne Ranger. I will be going to MEPS this weekend and swearing in with my 11x option 40 contract. I am headed to basic next summer as a specialist. At that time, I will have graduated with my 4 year degree. I should have more details (if needed) after this weekend. I am looking to gain an insight into the day-to-day life of a Ranger in the Regiment, and what it specifically means when people say "you have to earn it every day". I think prior knowledge and preparation are key in order to achieve success and excellence. I look forward to becoming a part of the ShadowSpear community.

Welcome to SS. It is good to hear that you will have your undergrad studies under your belt before coming onboard. The degree opens more doors, in and out of the military.

There is plenty here to read and absorb, including the Mentor Groups, from the "Groups" on the top toolbar. Read through the threads for a while, many questions are answered there.

Listen to @x SF med , his wisdom and insight will take you far in the SOF world, and life in general. Best of luck on the road before you.

Welcome.

"You have to earn it every day." Means exactly that.
Excellence is the minimum in any SOF billet.
And I would not expect that the bar be set any lower than perfect. Let me re-phrase my inquiry: what I am asking is what is the day to day like in Ranger Bat? From what I have heard and read there are two live-fire drills a week, and you do intense PT Mo, Weds, and Fri. In addition, I have heard that you are constantly going to schools (Mountain Warefare, etc) and being educated in different ways. I am essentially wondering if this information is correct. Thank you for your time. (If this is not the proper place to ask you this question, please let me know).

Check your in box. We like to keep intro threads to intros, and welcomes.
