Joining an Army for a citizenship?

Has anyone here done this? I looked for threads but all I saw in my light browsing were notices from militaries accepting foreigners.

As another question, has anyone here worked with or been in the French FL or Russian Army (which now accepts foreigners)? If so can you tell me what the conditions were like for the soldiers?

(I am aware of the risk to my citizenship if I joined, but am not currently planning on joining either)

With regard to the US Army, check out the "09L" program. If it's still in place, that might be a good option for you.

50-100 mostly Brit, Kiwi and US current serving people lateral transfer over to the Australian Defence Force every year, I think the Brits are mostly looking at extending their careers, we have pretty good pay and they get a free ride down here. Taking on Australian Citizenship (a requirement of serving in the ADF) doesn't mean relinquishing their original citizenship.
