Knots

This is a tree this is a hole in the tree the squirrel comes out of the hole in the tree sees a dog runs around the tree and back down the hole. Is that the one?

Bowline. The King of all knots. Learned it in Boy Scouts, used it in Sea Scouts. I still use it when I'm doing tree work and here & there around the farm.

I've spent a couple years as a commercial salmon fisherman up in Alaska. Knots we use regularly: Bowline, Clove Hitch, Double Half Hitch, Taut Line hitch, Square, Sheet Bend. Also, the Throw Bowline is good for style points and betting purposes.

Old thread but just seeing it for the first time...

If anyone is interested in some instructional videos on knot tying, Kenny Knutson put together a pretty good set of short simple videos on YouTube. Here's a link to one to get started:

Kenny is a retired PJ, instructor, and general knot guru.
