This is exactly what we did at Homestead AFB with the your 82nd guys when we were on riot standby for Miami. One day we were the riot troops and they were the hippy rioters...and the next day we switched roles.
Being the hippy rioters was more fun.

So, label me a cynic- for the rank and file New Yorkers, it has become ‘bad enough’. Too bad those normal sane people are now outnumbered thanks to demographics. Same as in London, same as in Sweden, same as in Minnesota.
There is *no way* this dude beats Cuomo (who I have no love for) and then doesn’t walk through whatever Republican (new or old) candidate they put up.
I disagree with @AWP on the “let the city die” line of thinking, if only because no one has seen how bad it’s about to get.
I’ll make the call right now- because I detest fence sitting contrarians- Mamdani is the next Mayor of NYC, and America writes large will simply pretend the things in NY happening are just like LA- “Well yeah it’s a hellscape but it really doesn’t affect me so sucks to suck.”
Meanwhile, the city devolves into a Bane-led abomination and the people there pay the price.
