He's been disinformed and misinformed. But he has a right to speak his mind. I don't agree with anything he said but he does have his 1A right.
Now with that being said I wouldn't want him as a neighbor or sitting next to me at the VA of the VFW, I'd sit somewhere else or get up and sit elsewhere.

Just because someone has a DD-214 doesn't mean they are right - or righteous.
There are some veterans that got tangled up in the shenanigans on January 6th and they got handled a lot rougher for a LOT longer than the poor anti-ICE Ranger got handled...

I'm very pro veteran, because I'm a vet, but vets political views? In the workplace I did not hire you for your views on anything except maybe a Rugby defensive shape or a kicking strategy, those are the only things I want to hear about!

I am very pro veteran myself, until they step out of line and try to force the issues using themselves to appeal to push an agenda.

I am a veteran and quite honestly - I am sick and tired of "veterans"
I am also an SF guy - and I'm sick and tired of them too.
Accompany me on a journey into the mind of "why".............
Veterans have enjoyed 25 years of people thanking them for their service - even when they aren't serving "all that hard" and as a result somehow think that not only are they "entitled" to an opinion, but everyone else is required to entertain that opinion...
...sort of the same way "veterans" will complain that it is fucked up when someone ELSE tries to force an opinion on them.
SF guys will bluster on about the lowering of standards...
...while refusing to wear their uniform correctly
...while putting on a brightly colored baseball hat during a VIP visit and then getting pissed off because "all the CSM cares about is uniform violations"
Veterans will bluster on about Americas "entitlement culture"...
...and then get indignant when they don't get discounts at Lowes or free appetizers on veterans day
SF guys will bemoan the "everyone gets a trophy" culture...
...then piss and moan because they didn't get the PCS or Tour award that they THINK they deserved.
Veterans will complain about civilians abusing the system...
...while we happily collect our retirement pay, and disability pay, and tax exemptions, and medical benefits.
Not everyone is a hero.
Not everyone deserves to be "thanked" for their service.
Just because you went on "the big mish" doesn't mean we want to hear your story.
Just because you have a Ranger Tab, or SF Tab, or Trident, or Swiss Army knife - doesn't mean you have instant credibility.
NOBODY should be worshipped simply because they spent a few years (or decades for that matter) in uniform.

I don't like being thanked for my service either, weirds me out. Maybe it's the PTSD residing in me, maybe it's because I still don't feel worthy enough to be in the same shoes as those I hero worshipped as a Private, or maybe because I never thought I had earned it enough to be thanked for, anyway that's a me thing.
But if thanked, I always make sure to thank them in return for their support. And some I have had the time to make report with, I have suggested that the best way to thank me, or rather us, is for the next time they see a serviceman in uniform, say hello to them and thank them instead. They are our legacy and need to be shown that the sacrifices made now has a face or two to motivate them to keep doing it even on the hard days.
Edit: I also shy away from discounts in person, however I am guilty of being certified and getting my discounts online, because ammo, parts, and gear to keep me being tarded is expensive. But I refuse to use them or use the sales on Memorial Day. Just NO.
