National Protest and 'disband the cops' discussion (please review page 1)

So, today was supposed to be PhoenixPride's coffee with a cop event because hey we need outreach between local class organizations and Law Enforcement. The only reason I know about it is because the facebook algorithm has been shoving dumb shit down my feed no matter how many times I click not interested. PhoenixPride cancelled this event because a bunch of their idiots said this was in bad taste or something. Dunno. But yeah, everyone hates cops right now I guess.

Good lord, @policemedic
@Kraut783

How awful. I can't imagine as a cop or even being the medic on this.
That poor kid.

It’s wild how many lives are changed forever within a couple of minutes. One minute he’s doing the job and responding to DV, the next he has that weighing on him for the rest of his life.

You have to be a special kind of piece of shit to grab a kid as a shield with a knife to their throat. Fuck that cunt.

This is frightening. Imagine sitting in an airport, eating a bag of chips, and then in handcuffs because AI labeled you as a threat with a firearm.

These teens were sitting outside of school after football practice and got rolled up. I hope their parents file a giant lawsuit.

Zero police work went into this. None. Fire them

No, responding officers acted appropriately, sue the city and AI company.

Again, zero police work was done prior to the detention. They just “detained” a group of kids where no crime was committed. There was zero reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime (Terry stop) and like you said, used city resources in their determination of the cause for the detention. The kids were there legally and had never committed a crime. Usually I’m pretty open minded but in this case, I don’t think you will change my mind of this; just like you’ll never get me to agree with red flag laws.

There is culpability on both the Government and AI software. So perfect, sue them both for millions to stop this from happening to anyone else.

If someone was driving by thought they noticed someone with a gun and called it in, would it be any different? RAS would be a gun on school property and their good police work was not going in guns blazing with SWAT to interdict.

In my eyes, no it would not be any different and if that claim was found to be false that person could face criminal charges. In this instance, nobody will face them.

The Baltimore Police Department takes the violation of the suspect's civil rights seriously and will thoroughly investigate the matter.
Fraternally yours,
The Gun Trace Task Force

But seriously, it's hard to believe the police used as inspiration for The Wire would so callously treat another human being, right?
