Ooh Rah, Marines! Who wants to go back to bootcamp?

I used to joke with a good buddy, that if I went through BCT/AIT again, I would literally die from laughter.

When you are going through, its crazy b/c you have no clue of what the hell is going on. After a few years and see it for what it is, it becomes pretty damn funny. DS Hord walking through the company area looking for his Smokey with a PC on his head, was to die for...

I was an I&I corpsman for a while, we got a new I&I 1st Sgt. He came straight from PI, I&I was his sunsent tour before retirement. I was afraid he would be, well, a DI. Turns out he was one of the coolest guys I had ever met and he would have the rest of us rolling with his stories. I recall, though, asking how much of the DI persona was for-real vs an act, and he said the hystrionics were 100% acting, but acting for a purpose.

Once there is some distance between yourself and the fire...all you feel is the warmth and the smell of the smoke...all pleasant things.

However, when you are "IN" the fire...it isn't that much fun...;-)

I do remember good ole MCRD with some fond memories....

I was a House Mouse. I have some hilarious memories from PI. DIs at beercall must laugh their asses off about all the dumb shit privates do.
