SEAL Team Combat Medics talk about their days on active duty. Includes interview with Thomas Holmes and Bob "Doc" Clark, Former SEAL Team Combat Medics. Provided by Naval Special Warfare Command.
I believe they go to the same SOCM course that Ranger medics go to, and have the chance to go to the other portion of the 18D course down the road. Honestly, since NSW has taken on the FID mission as of late, it would probably make sense for them to go to the whole 18D course, wouldn't it?
A SEAL medic is a SO not a HM. They do attent the SOCM course(SF studs go through this as well as Rangers, CA, and 160th) and then later on can attend the SOIDC course(SFMS)
SEAL Medics did not exist during Viet Nam and after that. HM's were assigned to the Teams after a short course. There were problems in quality and consistency.
HM's were then allowed to attend BUDS and other SOF Medical Courses.
