Hello all,
I'm a Marine Officer Candidate who will be attending the second 6 weeks of OCS at the start of July. I would like to learn more about the special operations community and the potential for police work (as SWAT or a pilot) after service. A few of the less interesting things about me, I'm a senior Mechanical Engineer at Baylor and I recently got engaged.
Thanks for your time,
J

Welcome. The Marine Corps doesn’t have infantry contracts. It’s ground or air. Possibly cyber in a year or two.

I apologise, I should have been more specific. I have an air contract, but if there is an infantry slot available for however I place at TBS, I will drop my air contract for a ground, 0302 MOS.

That’s not how that works. There are infantry slots for each third. Just go ground. There is no gaming the system.

No gaming intended. I want to fly because I want to help keep Marines alive. However, when I was at OCS, I was told I had a knack for the infantry side of things. If at TBS, I feel that I will be most effective serving in that capacity, I'm going to try to change over to ground. I'm sorry I didn't mean to make it seem like I was playing the system.

I’m not giving you a hard time, just telling you that you will probably have to drop your air contract before you know your class ranking.

Fair enough. I appreciate the heads up. I actually have a question for you; as a Recon Marine, did that make things more difficult on the family front (if applicable)?
