The China Thread (Threat)

This one's less dramatic but arguably more important. Canada deepens its alignment with Washington — offering diplomatic support, intelligence sharing, and strategic basing access. It's not that Ottawa becomes a puppet. It's that North America starts operating as a single economic and security bloc in a way we haven't seen since WWII. That kind of continental unity sends a message that's hard to ignore.

Carney is doing everything to destroy any relationship with the US. Including trying to create some sort of "middle power" to counter Trump. In doing so, he's aligned himself with China and at the same time enacting major authoritarian laws around censorship and control over the population.

Canada and Australia will be stronger negotiating together with superpowers including Donald Trump’s America, acting as “strategic cousins” rather than competitors, Mark Carney has told the Australian federal parliament.
Canadian PM Mark Carney offers to team up with Australia as ‘strategic cousins’ to push back against dominant superpowers

Carney’s solution is primarily psychic. By abandoning the international order’s “rituals”, middle powers can finally reckon with their changed circumstances and hence begin to “develop greater strategic autonomy”. This autonomy comes, in Carney’s vision, from diplomatic hedging, national self-reliance, and issue-based coalitions in response to global problems. This “third path” is one on which middle powers can allegedly band together to resist hegemonic coercion and defend their shared interests.
