The Army (and I’m guessing the other services) is awarding the Humanitarian Service Medal (HSM) or the Armed Forces Service Medal (AFSM) to eligible personnel who participated in the fight against COVID19.

The award criteria is EXTREMELY generous and many service members will meet the requirements. I suggest you check it out and determine if you or your people are eligible.

Attached is the appropriate documentation. This is all I know, I’m not knowledgeable enough on this to address additional questions. I’m just putting it out there as an FYI.

Sounds like if they wanted to award a medal that actually means something, that should go to anyone passing the new ACFT...

Trying to figure the logic for the AFSM?
HSM I understand.
HSM: is available to those who performed humanitarian action during the, “identified period of immediate relief (29 days or less).”

AFSM: is for those who showed up after those 29 days.
