The Trump Presidency 2.0

Well that's the problem! The Air Force was applying the buff wrong!

You gotta sing Wild Blue Yonder before going into the fight, as it gives +2 to your athletics, acrobatics, and perceptions stat; +5 if sung in a group of 10 or more.
some Bardic Inspiration right there. 5E D&D for the win. +1d6 to you.

I've read through all the memos. I'd say 70/30 things I agree with vs. things I'd be concerned about; those concerns are purely about "how" implementation will occur/2nd and 3rd order effects, not the desired outcome.
Very few I disagree with (I.E. grooming).

I'll post my thoughts on each later this weekend in the recruitment/retention thread, as a way to seperate policy opinion from political opinion a bit.

When I was at the 'ol Clown College, whenever AF formed for PT on their own and went "Air Powerrr" on fall in, it was funny as shit.

The female I replaced in Kosovo would shout that shit at the end of the morning brief.
The USLNO was from an Artillery Bde in Germany and would shout his units motto, until I showed up.
Brief ends.
AF Major "AIR POWER"
Army LNO "DRUM FIRE"
Me " COUNTER BATTERY "
Shocked looks, followed by how do you know that.
Shouting at the end of the brief ended that day.

I brought up before that it can be difficult to prove your citizenship. If this happened as described, this is egregious. Pulled from your home without a warrant, and being detained in cuffs. For no crime. Just existing in your own home as an American citizen.

Massive immigration raid on Chicago apartment building leaves residents reeling: 'I feel defeated'
Meh. Non-concur. Did we read the same story?

Despite the obvious bias of the source and writer, this was noted as a joint raid (FBI, ATF, ICE) to include multiple issues, such as drug trafficking, weapons violations, and immigration. Who says they didn't have a warrant? That's not mentioned anywhere and they weren't asked to prove their citizenship. A guy was detained for a few hours as part of the raid and later cleared? OK. Many others were not.

I see no issue here.

Sounds like the plot of "I was Born in East LA".

And maybe if we stopped issues driver's licenses to illegal aliens this could be mitigated since you know everyone is supposed to have a REAL ID. This used to happen in ICE Raids back in the 90s all the time, you know when Clinton was tough on immigration?

Meh,

We had a lady arrested in Bexar County because her name was the same as an alias used by a career criminal.

It happens, you sort it out and release the person as quickly as possible.

I came close to getting hooked up because the ( new at the time) license plate reader misread the plates on my car.

Calling my wife and asking her to pick my son up because I was getting arrested was not fun.

^Technology be like that sometimes.

With respect, and I'm being serious, I'm not even going to bother with the article even though I want to. Because (can you start a sentnece with because?) every single ICE is deporting U.S. citizens news story I've dug into has been BS.

P. S. I've been detained by police a few times myself. Not fun.

The article says people were detained not deported. The issue remains the same, citizens are being detained for hours for with no reasonable suspicion. Simply being pulled from their homes and detained.

So you were suspected of a crime. Not in your home? Invading someone’s home without a warrant is pretty suspect.

Does Law Enforcement routinely get warrants for entire 30 unit apartment buildings? Including domiciles not indicated for criminality? I think the 4th amendment demands specificity. It does say people’s homes were entered without warrants for their persons or property, and the FBI stated they were there to support ICE in a targeted immigration enforcement.

Like I said, IF the reporting is true, and they entered individuals homes without a warrant tossed their shit, and took stuff, and detained people who were doing nothing, it is inappropriate regardless of their stated reasons for being there.

I was 13 years old when Clinton left office. I do t know much about warrantless searches under his presidency, but I think it upset lots of people then too, right?

I was 11. It was on the news a lot. But the thing that sticks out to me from that time was a statement from my grandfather: "Just make sure they take the Irish ones too". So you had a Mexican American whose parents had immigrated here who had assimilated, whose only comment was make sure the White illegals were deported. It also came up with various Asian communities. Hacienda Heights, Covina, West Covina, were very hispanic communities...and now they are very not.

So, my position on this is simple. Every illegal? Deport them.

My point has nothing to do with illegals. My issue is the warrantless entry of homes, not a knock, and a “talk to us outside”. Entering homes with no warrant, and detaining US citizens for no fucking reason.

Separate the issue from what they were doing. Say they were looking for your neighbor, and I stead came to your home, kicked down your door, and detained you despite knowing you were not your neighbor. Then they also tossed your shit, again, knowing you were not your neighbor. If city police were doing this shit they would get fired, and cost the cities millions of dollars.

I'm as big a deport-all-illegals guy as there is, but if they're doing warrantless searches and seizures without due process, that's a problem. You wanna give the left ammunition to call Trump fascist? Cause that's how you give the left ammunition to call Trump fascist.
